Thank you for your interest in our Liturgy of the Word with Children Ministry!
“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 10: 14-16).
At St. Jude’s Parish, Children’s Liturgy is offered at the Sunday 11 am Mass. The children who come to Children’s Liturgy begin the Mass sitting together with their families and the Church congregation. After the Opening Prayer and before the First Reading, the priest will call the children to gather in front of the altar. Encouraging the children to gather in front of the altar is important as it shows the congregation that children are a vital part of the Church. The presider then leads the children to the chapel where the Liturgy of the Word with Children takes place.
Here is the order of the Liturgy of the Word with Children:
- Welcome Song
- We Bless Ourselves
- Light the Candel
- First Reading
- Responsorial Psalm
- Gospel Acclamation
- Our Creed
- Prayers of the Faithful
- Return to the Assembly (during the Offertory and collection)
